Vidwest Community Media Center Awarded $6,080.95 from the Boone Electric Community Trust

We are thrilled to announce that Vidwest Community Media Center has received a generous grant of $6,080.95 from the Boone Electric Community Trust! This funding will enable us to make critical updates to our facilities and services, directly benefiting Columbia residents and rural communities in Mid-Missouri.

Founded in 1997, the Boone Electric Community Trust has a strong history of supporting nonprofit organizations and public entities that serve local communities. Over the years, the Trust has awarded more than $4 million in grants, making a significant impact on the programs and services that enrich the lives of those who live and work in Boone Electric Cooperative’s service area. Vidwest is honored to be among this year's recipients, and we are excited to put these funds to work in support of our mission.

How We Will Use the Grant

With the support from Boone Electric Community Trust, Vidwest will be able to make several important improvements to better serve the community:

  1. Mobile Industrial AC Unit: This new addition will ensure that our studio space stays comfortable for Columbia residents, especially during the hot summer months. With a reliable cooling system, we’ll be able to keep our creative spaces pleasant and productive for everyone who walks through our doors.

  2. Bonded Sim Card Router: This router will allow us to offer more reliable livestream production services, particularly for rural areas or locations with poor internet connectivity. It’s a crucial step in improving our ability to reach and serve communities that might otherwise face challenges with livestreaming.

  3. Replacement Curtains for the Storefront: Thanks to a rogue groundhog, our storefront curtains were damaged last year. This grant will help us replace them, ensuring that our studio looks professional and welcoming for all who visit.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Boone Electric Community Trust for their generosity and support,” said Matt Schacht, Studio Manager at Vidwest. “Without their contribution, Vidwest would not have access to modern equipment, air conditioning, and other essential services. This funding allows us to continue providing more than $350,000 worth of services to Columbia residents at minimal cost.”

Empowering the Community Through Media

Vidwest is Columbia’s only community media center, dedicated to making digital media accessible to everyone. As we move forward with these exciting updates, we remain committed to serving Columbia and Mid-Missouri with affordable and accessible media education, gear, and studio space. Thank you again to the Boone Electric Community Trust for supporting our efforts to foster creativity, collaboration, and community through media.
